　　奇是一食堂伙计，立志成为名厨，却受老板独眼龙陈真刻薄，终于奇愤而辞职，却落得被陈真追斩。逃亡中更误将日本少女京子抛落海，京子誓报此仇。奇父临死前将一些金币交给他，要他和离家出走之兄长米融洽相处。奇往大阪找米，米对奇提出要将大阪摔角配合香港饮食，米返港，立刻租铺招聘人手，聘任了猜猜碰、古及大锦。　　米亲自教授摔角技俩及大阪口音日文，众人分别化身成摔角手“财神”、“为食蒙面人”、“小笼包”、“豹子头”及“大阪超人”，并命名“大阪摔角饭店”。京子流落香江，晕倒饭店门前，米同情其遭遇并收留了她。奇唯有长期戴住“大阪超人”面具，却想不到京子是“大阪超人”之崇拜者，见奇便怦然心动。　　奇偶遇大声公，大声公因身怀神秘光碟，被杀手阿二追杀。大声公临死前偷偷将光碟放入奇外套内，令奇被阿二追杀，更成为通辑犯。“大阪摔角饭店”因电视台之转播而声名大噪，生意滔滔。京子则与奇日夕相对互生情愫。好景不常，在陈真恶意破坏下，饭店生意一落千丈；米亦因老婆小美要带同儿子丹尼离港再婚，以致意志消沉，无心恋战；同时京子被经理人公司挖角，京子虽希望奇挽留，惜奇态度回避，更发现其真面目，愤而离去。自此生意更是一厥不振。　　转机来临，著名饮食家周仁奇光临饭店。米得奇激励，重新振作，更意外发现秘制小笼包秘方，泡制给周仁奇品尝，得到高度赞扬，自些“大爆炸小龙包”吸引了大批慕名而来之老人食客，生意亦再次兴旺，其时京子亦决定重返饭店。 危机出现，陈真决意“一镬熟”，带计时炸弹混进饭店。时杀手阿二及手下亦同时杀到，找寻光碟。阴差阳错，京子夺去光碟，逃至大堂，最后演变成双方在擂台上展开大决战……

　　剧集由三个故事组成。　　《富豪村》：在编辑泉京香（饭丰万理江 饰）的怂恿之下，岸边露伴（高桥一生 饰）和她一同前往一处名叫“富豪村”的别墅区拜访。这里的豪宅以极低的价格正在出售之中，然而，想要见到卖主，必须要通过他的礼仪考验。　　《KUSHAGARA》：岸边露伴在街边偶遇了名为志士十五（森山未来 饰）的同行漫画家，十五告诉岸边路边，他的责编禁止他在漫画里使用“KUSHAGARA”这个词，然而却没有告诉他这个词到底是什么意思。非常想知道其中含义的十五因为执念渐渐陷入了癫狂之中。　　《D.N.A》：泉京香的男友太郎（中村伦也 饰）在6年前因为一场车祸而失去了记忆，一直到今天都没有从车祸的阴影里完全走出。一天，他们在路上偶然遇见了推着婴儿车的女子片平真依（泷内公美 饰），就在她经过太郎身旁时，婴儿车里伸出了一只手抓住了太郎。

The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 　　British Army radiation drills at a remote Scottish base attract a subterranean, radioactive entity of unknown nature that vanishes, leaving two severely radiation-burned soldiers... and a "bottomless" crack in the earth.
